MINING INDUSTRY
Until the late 1970s, Malaysia was the world's premier producer of tin, supplying some 40% of the world's tin. In the early 1970’s, bauxite and copper continued to contribute to the mining sector.
Today, the industry is still a major contributor towards Malaysia’s economic, social and industrial development. The value of minerals produced in Malaysia in 2007 was RM2.53 billion, a 15% increase from RM2.20 billion produced in 2006. The non-metallic sector has remained the mainstay of the country’s mineral resource industry, registering a production value of RM1.95 billion in 2007.
With Malaysia being rich in over 33 different mineral types, comprising metallic, non-metallic and energy minerals, this industry is undeniably worth billions of dollars in economic potential.
If you have a love for the outdoors and adventure, then pursuing a career in this booming industry is perfect for you! Some of the many sectors available in the mining industry include:
• Mining Support Operation
