Oil and gas is the largest non-renewable energy resource for Malaysia, making this industry one of the key industries for Malaysia’s economy. In order to maintain Malaysia’s international stronghold as an exporter of quality petroleum, the industry needs skilled professionals to maintain operations and development activities.
Such activities may include exploration for crude petroleum and natural gas; drilling, completing, and equipping wells; operating separators, emulsion breakers, delisting equipment, and field gathering lines for crude petroleum and natural gas; and all other activities in the preparation of oil and gas up to the point of shipment from the producing property.
The petroleum refining industry on the other hand plays a different supporting role of primarily refining crude petroleum into refined petroleum. Petroleum refining seeks qualified professionals to operate activities such as fractionation, straight distillation of crude oil, and cracking.
It is also notable to highlight that the oil and gas industry has been identified as one of the 12 National Key Economic Areas under the 10th Malaysia Plan, making an economically stable sector for your career growth.
